A town situated west of Sarajevo in the valley of the Fojnička river, carrying within itself the rich traditions of the Franciscans, who possess a wide range of philosophical and theological books in their beautiful monastery from the times of “Bosna srebrena.”

Other than the historical riches of the Franciscans one can also enjoy himself in the local spa areas for which Fojnica is widely renowned, since the town has been known as a balneological resort since ancient times. Fojnica was also known as the last refuge of Queen Catherine of Bosnia before she made her way to Rome during the Ottoman occupation of Bosnia.
